Ajayi, MD, pediatrician, adult and pediatric palliative medicine physician and clinical translational researcher, upon becoming the Chair–Elect of the American Medical Association Board of Trustees. In fact, California physicians make up a key portion of the new AMA Board. David H. Aizuss, MD, an ophthalmologist is the new Chair of the AMA Board of Trustees. California delegate Alexander Ding, MD, MS, MBA, a diagnostic and interventional radiologist, is the new Secretary of the AMA Board. Lynn Jeffers, MD, MBA, a plastic surgeon from California continues to serve on the Board and Pauline P. Huynh, MD, an otolaryngologist resident from California joins the AMA Board. San Diego and California continue to have a significant impact on advocating for patients and physicians on the national level. We are proud of the difference they are making. CONGRATULATIONS TO DR. ALBERT RAY ON HIS SUCCESSFUL TENURE AS PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD FOR THE AMA FOUNDATION Congratulations are also due to legendary San Diego medical leader, Dr. Albert Ray, who recently completed his successful tenure as President of the Board of the American Medical Association Foundation. The AMA Foundation stated that Dr. Ray’s “leadership has strengthened the AMA Foundation’s health care equity and medical education mission. Thank you for being dedicated to advancing community health across four decades of service.” Dr. Ray has been an important advocate for patients and physicians in San Diego County, across California and for the entire nation. Dr. Robert Hertzka served as Master of Ceremonies while Assemblymember Tasha Boerner delivered an entertaining and passionate Keynote Address. Dr. Koh awarded Dr. Will Tseng the prestigious James T. Hay, MD Award while Champions named the San Diego Unified School District Nursing & Wellness Department as CFH Partner of the Year. Dr. Ema Mostofian received the Champion of the Year Award and Dr. John Rudolf Backman was posthumously honored as the recipient of the CFH President’s Award. Dr. Backman’s daughters movingly accepted the award on behalf of their family.
